In a society where self tanning and weave is a necessity, I'm curious what anyone truly looks like anymore. Who sent the memo out that women had to falsify themselves to be beautiful, Or that "real" men are defined by their wallets?
Is there some unspoken rule that every girl has to have cascading hair (even if not their own) or that all guys have to look like Bradley Cooper "sexiest man of 2011." I mean realistically is a 10 pack really a necessity?
For 15 years I had my hair chemically straightened so I would look like "everyone else." Relaxers, that I soon found did more damage than good. Funny thing is I didn't realise there were girls wishing they had curly hair and would get their hair permed so they would stand out, be different.
There are men that just can't put on weight, they are just naturally slim I wonder if their only solution is steroids. Seems only logical doesn't it, living in a society where we are made to think we have to do whatever it takes to be beautiful. Pain is beauty right?
So wrong!
So what if your a chick and cut your hair like a page boy, who cares if your a curvy and don't fit a size zero! I could sit here for ages listing traits about each of my friends that I think make them beautiful. Whether it be their eyes, hair, height, or style. And it's definitely not because they added something fake to look like someone else.
The magazines and tabloids are not directions on how to look. Even though they do give step by step instructions on how to look like Kim Kardashian, I would hope that somewhere out there there might be people happy just to be themselves. Beautiful in their own way.
I can safely say my generation is pretty bad with the falsifying appearance. I mean don't get me wrong a bit of primping makes anyone feel good, male or female. But this next generation has definitely taken it to the next level.
From the false tanning, false lashes, even butt pads for goodness sake can we comfortably all sit here and say the future looks bright.
From what I can tell we're looking at a future run by oopa loompas and juice heads. With that being said can you stop and think of a trait you have that you are proud of? Confidence, not cockiness is key friends ;)

The American dream
Once we get to a certain age certain questions come to mind. "What college do I choose?" "Do I take a year, two years off?" "Do I settle down." "Should I conform?" question after question running through our minds, just trying to sort out how exactly are we going to reach the "American dream." Who do I have to marry, hurt, convince to get to where I want to be.
Nine times out of ten after all the wheels have turned and all the questions somewhat answered, we sit back and ask "Where the hell has time gone, and how did I get here?"
Now there's a simple answer really, well maybe a few answers. Perhaps your dad always wanted you to be a doctor so you started nursing school, but wanted to be a photographer. Or your mom wanted you to be a model and you wanted to be a teacher, so you left home at 18 and started bar tending to get through college... Where you're still working at 26.
Right, so my point is, are you where you are today because it's where you want to be? Were you forced into your situation? Maybe you had a choice and made a bad one?
So many of us make decisions based on others. Afraid of rejection or disapproval. Worried that you might disappoint someone else.
In the end you have one life to live. If your young utilise it don't waste time! If you want to wrangle lions by all means do it! If you want to swim the English channel, go for it! And definitely don't moan about it! If you can change the route your on change it because no one else can do it for you.
Everyone wants to live the "American dream." Fame, fortune, power. But in the end even the richest man can be as poor as the bum on the street if he isn't happy! We all have the entire world at our disposal! We only need to reach.

... but I'm curious
For those of us born in the last two generations (mid 80's to now) we can't really say we're the most spiritually enlightened individuals. I mean we all have something we really believe in, maybe its fashion, money... a good time. But are any of us really being fed spiritually? There has to be a reason why (not all) but ALOT of today's youth has literally no interest in in going..".there." You know those topics all our genertaions are dying to talk about. *sigh* You know Faith, God, praying... Ah and the light bulb goes off.
As for me I know its taken years for me to get where I am spiritually, after years of confusion, dissapointment, and lies I witnessed coming from every "Religion", in the end I find myself a Christian. Which is not so much a "Religion" but a way of life to me. Naturally this decision came much after and not before I had no faith at all! I suppose we all go through it. The phase between believing or not believing at all. Then there's that one thing that either turns us away or towards our spiritual enlightenment. A life altering experience, good or bad.I'm curious if there is more youth out there that believes in anything or cares about anything anymore, other than Beyonce' giving birth to a child she named after a color and a deadly plant.
In the end I suppose I'm just curious, whats on our generations mind today? Just for a brief moment see what happens when the subject of today isn't SEX, MONEY, or CELEB LIVES. Instead on spirituality....on faith. Now don't take this as me trying to push my beliefs. Just curious to hear others too. What is your answer when someone asks you what you believe?
