Once we get to a certain age certain questions come to mind. "What college do I choose?" "Do I take a year, two years off?" "Do I settle down." "Should I conform?" question after question running through our minds, just trying to sort out how exactly are we going to reach the "American dream." Who do I have to marry, hurt, convince to get to where I want to be.
Nine times out of ten after all the wheels have turned and all the questions somewhat answered, we sit back and ask "Where the hell has time gone, and how did I get here?"
Now there's a simple answer really, well maybe a few answers. Perhaps your dad always wanted you to be a doctor so you started nursing school, but wanted to be a photographer. Or your mom wanted you to be a model and you wanted to be a teacher, so you left home at 18 and started bar tending to get through college... Where you're still working at 26.
Right, so my point is, are you where you are today because it's where you want to be? Were you forced into your situation? Maybe you had a choice and made a bad one?
So many of us make decisions based on others. Afraid of rejection or disapproval. Worried that you might disappoint someone else.
In the end you have one life to live. If your young utilise it don't waste time! If you want to wrangle lions by all means do it! If you want to swim the English channel, go for it! And definitely don't moan about it! If you can change the route your on change it because no one else can do it for you.
Everyone wants to live the "American dream." Fame, fortune, power. But in the end even the richest man can be as poor as the bum on the street if he isn't happy! We all have the entire world at our disposal! We only need to reach.
